COVID-19 Testing Frequently Asked Questions
What are the primary symptoms of COVID-19?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
people with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported –
ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14
days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have
COVID-19:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fever
- Chills
- Muscle pain/aches
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell
- Runny nose
This list is not all possible symptoms. Other less common symptoms
have been reported, including gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea,
vomiting, or diarrhea.
What should I do if I'm experiencing severe symptoms?
If you or a family member are experiencing severe symptoms, please
call your doctor. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency,
please call 911.
Am I required to show ID?
Please present a picture ID, however, if you don't have an ID with
you, we can look you up in our system after you have completed your
profile.
Is the test invasive?
No.
We insert a nasal swab approximately 2 cm into each nostril, until
some resistance is met. You may feel some pressure, but you should not
feel any pain.
Is the test accurate?
All tests offered are approved by the FDA under
Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) and are accurate for detecting SARS-COV-2.
When do I need to arrive for my appointment?
Please arrive at the scheduled time listed on your confirmation email.
How long will the test take?
The nasal swab should not take more than 5 minutes.
How and when will I receive my results?
You will receive a text message when your results are available. Please log into Intend portal to view your results. If you have trouble logging in, please reset the password with the email you used to create the account.
At this time, PCR results are available as soon as next day and may take up to 2 days.
Information on Travel
The Bay Area is currently under a stay-at-home order. It is not advised to travel.
When air travel is necessary, you must take a test 3 days prior to departure. Per the CDC, you should get tested 3 to 5 days after arrival at your destination and stay home for 7 days post travel.
